Dinner at Varikai by Gogo

Tonight, we are trying Varikai by Gogo, a sushi restaurant in Sharyland. The menu is mostly rolls and side dishes. They do have some Tepenyaki and Teriyaki.

Have you been here? What did you think?

Beautiful Day

After a couple of days of lousy, cold weather, we are getting some sunshine. I've got some errands and a service call to make today. Gotta make a little money for Christmas presents. I'll be in McAllen, Texas most of the afternoon.

I read how cold it is in other parts of the country. Mild weather is one benefit of living in the Rio Grande Valley.

Dec 12 is Overcast

Headed over to Elsa, Texas to finish a computer job. It's a pretty cool day today, by our standards. Temps are in the 50s.

If you need some computer work, give me a call at 956-205-0706.

Construction of the Border Fence and Levee

Construction of a border fence and levee is well underway in Madero, a small community south of Mission, Texas. The project to protect the area against catastrophic flooding and the flow of iillegal crossings is a joint effort between the Department of Homeland Security and Hidalgo County.

While many local people agree that there is a need to stop illegal immigrants and smugglers, many disagree that construction of a fence is the right way to do it, preferring other means like more patrols or virtual fences.

Hidalgo County's main focus is in preventing a flooding disaster as occurred after Hurricane Katrina when the levees burst. A review of local levees showed the need to rebuild them.
