La Costumbre, Tejano Boys to headline Texas Onion Fest Entertainment

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

La Costumbre, Tejano Boys to headline Texas Onion Fest Entertainment

This year's Texas Onion Fest will bring all the great live music it's
known for, taking place on Saturday & Sunday, March 24th & 25th at
Weslaco City Park.

Norteño group La Costumbre will be headlining the Magic Valley
Electric Main Stage on Saturday night.  Group members Edgar Lujan and
Jose Zamora first met in a Spanish class at Zapata High School.  They
soon realized that they both were interested forming a group since
Jose was learning to play the accordion and Edgar already played the
guitar.  At first, they simply just loved to play music together, but
they never imagined where that passion for music would take them.
They've released six albums, their most recent one released last year,
a live recording featuring all their hits.  They received a Latin
Grammy in 2009 for Best Norteño Album.  Prepare for an entertaining
and energetic show from a group of guys who love to perform!

Ralph & the Cruisers, a Winter Texan favorite that offers a variety of
genres with a focus on classic oldies, will take the stage Saturday
morning, then local favorites Marshall Law and Whiskey D. will serve
up some country music, new and old.  Kicking off the Tejano and
Norteno set is group Estruendo, while Grammy award winning artist
Marlissa Vela takes the Magic Valley Electric Main Stage for a second
year in a row.

On Sunday, Grammy Award-winning bluegrass duo Bob and Sheila Everhart,
who bring back the traditional bluegrass sounds of country music, will
perform at 3 p.m.  Bob and Sheila Everhart record for the prestigious
Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C.  They've released six
successful projects released on the Smithsonian-Folkways label, a
non-profit label dedicated to supporting and promoting cultural
diversity.  The Everharts are true folk music "purists", and seek to
maintain America's heritage through their music.  Bob and Sheila have
released six albums under Prairie Music Records, with re-releases in
Canada, and several labels in Europe. The Everharts have performed all
over the world including China, the North Pole and extensively in
Europe.

Closing out the event will be local favorite the Tejano Boys.  Based
out of Brownsville, Texas, quintet the Tejano Boys have proven
themselves true Tejano artists as the name suggests. Their exciting
live shows and extensive touring have allowed them to cultivate a fan
base in Mexico and the United States.

Admission at the gate on Saturday and Sunday is $5 for adults, $4 for
seniors, $3 for children (3 yrs. and younger get in free).  Kids 12
yrs. and under get in free.
