There are a few events coming up this weekend and we hope that you will enjoy us..... 
 
Dia de Mercardo
Come join us every Thursday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm if you are looking for arts, crafts, pottery, fresh fruits and vegetables plus more...  at the Mission Market Square (right beside the Mission Chamber of Commerce Building.)   
Mayor's Annual Christmas Lighting 
 
Come join Mayor Norberto Salinas and Guests on Thursday, December 10, 2009 from 6 to 9 pm as he officially lights up the Leo Pena Placita Park (corner of Bus. 83 & Conway) with Christmas cheer.  Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy the lights.

Holiday Open House
 
We hope that you can join us on Friday, December 11, 2009 for our Holiday Open House.  Enjoy the free food that will be available as early as 9 am up to 7 pm here at our Chamber in the Mayor Norberto Salinas Conference Center.  We look forward to seeing everyone!!!  
Help us welcome back our Winter Texans!!!   On Saturday, December 12, 2009 we will host a Winter Texan Welcome Party for our special guests.  The event will take place at the Leo Pena Placita Park (corner of Bus. 83 & Conway Ave).  Free entertainment will be provided.  For more information contact us at (956)585-2727.

It's that time of year again when Winter Texans start to make their way south from the northern states. I have already had phone calls with a Winter Texan client who is getting ready to come down. I think it is fascinating that we can make friends from people who are visiting only seasonally.  Looking at the blog stats, I seem to get a peak in traffic every year. We have been fortunate this year, compared to other parts of the USA. Although, south Texas could use the rain.  This time of year makes me happy as we finally have nights that are below 78F like we had all summer. This week we have had mornings in the 60s. The Mad Mexican

Years ago, there used to be a DJ at B104, a local radio station. Until recent years, B104 had a large audience. They played pop music. The Mad Mexican used to do the morning show with Gary Rodriguez, who is now involved in McAllen politics. Well, the Mad Mexican is still working, but on a national level. I heard him this morning on Aguila, XM 92. Aguila is the Mexican music station on XM Satellite Radio. It's great to hear from him again. He's still pretty wild. Gary Rodriguez? He worked for 107.9 for a while before going to KURV and then entering politics.
